GENERAL GYMNASTICS

(from 4 years upwards)

Our General classes run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays during term time. General gymnasts follow a well established, structured programme in either our purpose-built gym with specialist equipment or one of our satellite centres held at schools throughout the Borough of Richmond. General gymnastics classes are mixed ability for boys and girls and are 1 hour long. Gymnasts are encouraged to progress through basic gymnastics skills to more complex ones at their own pace within a group of their own age. Although our classes run by age group, we do split each class into ability groups to cater each child’s needs.

We integrate children with special needs into our general programme and ensure there is a full qualified GMPD coach to support if necessary.
All general coaches are BG qualified, insured and CRB checked.
 

Satellite Centres
RGA continually update and monitor the equipment we provide at the satellite centres to ensure the continued quality of the classes we operate there.
The satellite centres are a convenient way for your child to attend gymnastics classes as we run classes in a number of schools around the Borough of Richmond.
The schools we currently operate in are:

  • Collis School, Fairfax Road, Teddington TW11 9BS.
  • Buckingham School, Buckingham Road, Hampton TW12 3LT.
  • Nelson School, Nelson Road, Whitton TW2 7BU.
  • Orleans Infant School, Hartington Road, Twickenham TW1 3EN.
  • The Vineyard School, Friars Stile Road, Richmond TW10 6NE.

Sports Centres

Gymnastics classes are managed by the Sports Centres but we provide our coaches to run the classes.  Please contact each Centre for information on availability and prices.

The Centres we currently operate in are:

  •  Teddington Sports Centre, Teddington School, Broom Rd, Teddington TW11 9PJ. 0208 977 0598. Tuesday + Wednesday Classes.
  •  Sheen Sports Fitness Centre, Park Avenue, East Sheen SW14 8RG. 0208 878 7578. Saturday Classes.
  •  Whitton Sports Centre, Percy Road, Whitton TW2 6JW. 0208 898 7795. Monday Classes.

 


Badge Schemes
All our gymnasts are given the opportunity to follow the British Gymnastics badge scheme and the successful Richmond Award Scheme.

Competitions
General gymnasts from 7 years and above are encouraged to compete in both our annual Floor & Vault Championships and annual tumbling Championships.

Dress Code: RGA Leotard or t-shirt and bare feet. For safety reasons, we cannot allow any kind of jewellery when participating in gymnastics activities; this includes earrings of any kind, even studs.
