News - May 2009Click on the month to see previous news bulletins>>> London Gymnastics Federation Bronze Competition Well done to all the Floor and Vault Squad who recently entered the London Gymnastics Federation “ Bronze” Competition. The event was held at Cheam Gymnastics Club on the 17th of May. To enter this competition gymnasts must hold a LGF licence but must not have competed at a higher level. Tamerira Head of Floor and Vault said "all the gymnasts did really well, it was a very competitive competition within age groups, and the younger members of our squad did really well winning 3 medals." For results, click >>here Biggest ever Richmond Gymnastics Team compete at National Finals Over the week end of the 9th and 10th May saw the best tumbling and acrobatic gymnasts from all over the UK meet to compete in the annual British National Development Plan Finals. The majority of these gymnasts were already winners in their own right after winning their London Regional’s back in March. This was RGA’s biggest ever team with 31 gymnasts heading to Stoke on Trent for the 2 day competition. Salme Naylor , Director of Coaching and Head of Acrobatic Gymnastics said “ It was fantastic to see 31 RGA gymnasts qualify for the Nationals this year and go on to represent both Richmond and London .” She added "This was our biggest team ever and to come home with 5 National Champions , 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals was just fantastic!" Kath Peberdy and Rob Small Tumbling coaches at RGA said “We were still away on Honeymoon whilst the tumblers were competing , and it was just amazing to keep getting texts telling us they had won even more medals, well done to Karen their coach on the day and of course the gymnasts.
