British Gymnastics TV visits the RGA A huge thank to Gareth Finchett, BGtv Production Editor and Anna Selby, BGtv Presenter for making a truly fun day at RGA on Thursday 18th June. BGTV took film coverage of all of RGA’s classes on starting with our Fun for Babies classes, moving through Pre School right up to after-school General Gymnastics classes as well as some of the Elite squads. The final cut will be available on Line at www.british-gymnastics.org in August. Watch this space for more news of when it goes live. Thanks to all the wonderful Gymnasts from 6 weeks to 18 years old who showed the RGA in its best light and demonstrated why we take pride in our club. London Youth Games The final of this year’s London Youth Games Floor and Vault Gymnastics competition was held on the 14th of June at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre. The RGA had to reduce their team to 10 gymnasts as sadly James Stevens was ill and could not compete. Thankfully Holly Hafenrichter was able to participate on the day after a nasty cut on her leg had healed sufficiently to enable her to take part. The team had qualified after an event held at RGA centre in Kew on the 28th March, performing a floor routine and two vaults. This year saw a huge field in the LYG with over 30 teams from all over London. The boys were unlucky not to beat last year’s finishing position, finishing 14th this year, but the girls did really well improving nearly 10 places with a finish in 12th place. Tameira McLean Head of the Floor and Vault squad at RGA commented “RGA gymnasts did well, it was especially challenging as they all had to learn a modified floor routine due to differences in the rules between the London Youth Games and our normal London Gymnastics Federation rules.” The Team: Boys: Ronan Jenkins, Levi Buckland, Callum Ellard, Jake Stayt, James Stevens - could not participate due to illness. Girls: Madeleine Ovenden, Safiyya Subjally, Jenny Scurr, Hattie Hafenrichter, Holly Hafenrichter, Olivia O’Driscoll Floor & Vault Silver and Gold Competition
Tamerira Head of Floor and Vault said "After winning 3 medals in the Bronze it was great to get 3 Golds in this competition, and even better to see 2 of our gymnasts get awarded with their LGF pins as well. Well done to them all." For results, click>>here
