17 Richmond gymnasts represented the London Region in Tumbling and Sports Acrobatics events at the British National Development Finals held in Stoke-on-Trent, May 16-17, bringing home Gold and Silver medals.

Senior Richmond Tumbler, Ben Shepherd, won Gold in the NDP Grade 4, over 15 Men’s category. Kath Peberdy, head of Tumbling at RGA, said: “Ben has only been training with us for a short time. It’s great to see his hard work over the last few months pay off.”

Richmond’s top mixed Acrobatic Gymnastic Pair, Lewis Walker and Christie Wong , came home with a Silver medal in the NDF Grade 2 competition.  Lewis also came fourth with Charlie Duncan in the men’s Grade 2 pairs.

Salme Brockbank, Director of Coaching at RGA, said: “It was fantastic to see so many Richmond gymnasts competing at such a big event. With over 100 clubs from12 regions represented, it was a great achievement for Richmond to be there. It was the first time that many of the gymnasts had competed at this level, the youngest being just 9.”
