RGA Gymnasts Compete in 31st  London Youth Games

10 RGA Gymnasts will be representing the London Borough of  Richmond upon Thames in the London Youth Games to be held on the 22nd June .

All did particularly well to win their places in the team after an open competition held in March.

They will compete in 2 disciplines of both Floor and Vault against 32 other teams from all over London.  All Gymnasts must be between 9 and 18 years old at the time of the competition and must not have competed at Regional or National level before.

The London Youth Games were inaugurated to commemorate the Queens Silver Jubilee in 1977, now in their 31st Year they prove to be as popular as ever.  With competitions taking place form angling to weightlifting the variety of sports continues to increase. The overall wining borough is presented with the “Jubilee Trophy”

Boys Team: Wulfie Bain (F&V)-Team Captain, Reynard Marx(F&V), James Stevens(F&V) Issac Blackman (V), Levi Buckland(F), Ronan Jenkins (reserve).

Girls Team : Olivia Strafford(F&V) - Team Captain, Alexandra Thompson(F&V), , Olivia O’Driscoll(F&V) and Hattie Hafenrichter (F&V)

Floor and Vault Results

Results for the Floor & Vault squad representing the Richmond Borough at the London Youth Games:

The girls came 18th out of 28 teams and the boys came 11th out of 22 teams.

Jade was really pleased with them as they are a very young squad with lots of potential for the future. Well done to all the children involved and to Jade and her team of coaches.

RGA Summer Displays

We have been asked to do an Acro display at two summer fairs:

  • Saturday 21st June- Nelson, in Whitton at 1.30pm

  • Saturday 28th June- Mortlake Fair at 12.15pm

We've also been asked to do the All Saints Fair (in Barnes)

The following gymnasts have said they are available (on Saturday afternoons instead of training). Once the display is over they can be taken straight home.

Shannon, Claire & Flora
Tsveti, Tashi & Eliza
Vikki, Josie & Isabella
Hrissy, Marie & Kayleigh
Lewis & Charlie
Eulalie, Matilda & Aureliane

If there is anyone who can help transport mats on the day that would be great. These events are normally very jolly and again this year Catherine Tate who was very funny last time, is opening the Mortlake Fair.

Do come along and support the event
