News - March 2007Click on the month to see previous news bulletins>>> Tumbling News This has been a hugely successful period for the Tumbling squad. At the Regional Championships we came away with: 10 GOLD'S 2 SILVER 1 BRONZE Four of the Gold's came from our new development squad making things look very bright for the future. All of the competitors who were able to get through to the National Finals in May did so.
Katherine Bailey - Grade 3 At the British Championships in March the wonderful success continued. We had 2 girls make it into the 9-10 age group final (Emily Jones & Lottie Till) compared to just 1 in the Tournament last year. Callum Kolade (9-10 boys) overcame is shaky performance in the qualifying competition and produced two great Tumbles in the final giving him the SILVER MEDAL (one better than the bonze he got at the Tournament). Heather Cowell once again proved herself to be the most outstanding girl in her age group (11-12 girls). She won the qualifying competition which also served as the first of 2 trials for the World Championships, putting her in pole position to make the team who will be flying to Canada in November. She also managed to perform a new tumble in the final which we have been working on for 6 months to give her the British Title. (second trial 21st April - Wakefield). Greg Boosey unfortunately couldn't repeat the great performance he gave at the Regional Championships two weeks earlier - although he was obviously much better prepared than at the tournament. It was just one of those days. His hands touched the floor and he was out of the final. Fortunately for him the other two boys competing against him to make the last spot on the senior team both had a bad competition too. They changed their tumbles for something far easier and still didn't always pull it off. The second trial for the seniors will be in September and I think that will be crunch time for all the boys. |
