Classes for Children with Disabilities
-
Our motto is “To Every
Child the Opportunity”.
-
We integrate all our
gymnasts with disabilities into our mainstream classes.
-
We provide one to one
coaching were applicable.
-
We provide British
Gymnastics GMPD qualified coaches who work with our gymnasts with
disabilities.
-
We set specific training
programmes for each gymnast with disabilities.
-
We provide a large range of
suitable equipment.
-
All gymnasts are encouraged
to achieve British Gymnastics badges and Richmond Award Scheme badges and also
take part in displays for parents and carers.
Special
Classes
On 4th May 2007, eight boys from Orleans Park
School came to the RGA for the first of our special try-out sessions for children
with disabilities.
The
boys had varying levels of social and learning disabilities and find their
normal PE classes somewhat intimidating.
One
child was wheelchair bound and the gym was certainly a positive environment for
him. It was a great success and further classes are planned.
The
RGA is also conducting a class with Oakland School - a school specialising in
children with special needs.
